A Thanksgiving Tablescape

If you are looking for last minute ideas for your Thanksgiving tablescape, look no further. My good friends Amy Ludwin and Mary Marshall Graeber are sharing

their floral arranging secrets straight from the garden to make your dinner table

shine with color!

Amy and Mary Marshall spread smilax vine across the table. They like to use foliage that can stay out of water for a while and still look fresh. Next, glass box vases were filled with boxwood and nandina greenery.

Then they filled the vases with dried hydrangea and abelia. Gourds and apples, with clementines and rose shaped pinecones were spread all around. To make the look complete, they added orange tulips to give it a little height.

Watch out Martha Stewart! This is absolutely beautiful. Stay tuned for Amy and MM's mantel decorating ideas for the holidays!! I can't wait ~

When I sat down to compile a list of things for which I’m thankful, I remembered how grounding it is to take a moment each day to reflect. I have so many wonderful things and people in my life for which I’m overwhelmingly grateful, and I’m honored to be included in today’s post. (Thank you, Laura!)

I’m thankful for the unconditional love my parents have given me. They have encouraged me to take risks, follow my heart, and pave my own life path. They have cheered for me during triumphs and held my hand when I’ve been defeated. They’ve encouraged me to leap, even when they knew that they might serve as the net. They’ve reminded me that mistakes, while expected pit stops on the road to success, should not deter my journey. Without my parents, I would not be as fulfilled and whole as I am today.

I’m thankful for my fiancé, best friend, and better half. He inspires me to do what I love each day, and not a thing more or less. He encourages me to live on the outskirts of my comfort zone and do things that might at first seem frightening, but end up being incredibly rewarding and shaping. (He even encouraged me to launch Radiant Republic.) He inspires me to be the best version of me – and he makes me laugh each day. A LOT.

I’m thankful for the little things that (admittedly) often go unnoticed. Each day contains little unexpected surprises and challenges. I’ve learned to find beauty in adversity as well as the most wonderful moments – as both are shaping and contribute to who I am. I’m thankful for the opportunities each day brings. I am overwhelmed with the response from the "I am Thankful" series. It truly is a wonderful time of year to reflect on what we have, and be grateful. I want to add to my grateful list and will do so by sprinkling posts in between the rest. I wish I could belt out a song enough to bring others to tears (unfortunately, I was not blessed with this talent). I am so grateful for those singers who bring us joy and chill bumps on our arms every time we hear them sing. Seasons of Love is one of those songs. "Measure Your Life in Love..." Do you have one?

My grandmother had a saying she said to me every time we talked. “First comes health, then comes family, then school.” Her point was always that I needed to keep my eye on what was truly important before I got caught up in what can seemingly take over a young person’s life – school. I think the same can be applied today as an adult to your work! And why do I bring this all up? Because each and every time she said it, it helped me shift my perspective onto what I was truly blessed to have in my life. So when Laura asked me to share three things I’m thankful for, I thought, this will be fun! I’ve practiced a lifetime now of thankful thinking.

::my family and friends::

I’m so so blessed to have the support network of family and friends that I do. I’m proud of how strong my family is, and I feel blessed to know what “unconditional love” truly means. I’ve had an interesting year in the friend department – occasional friends have blossomed into friendships I never knew could be so balanced and true. I’ve discovered a whole new dimension of friendship. I’ve found friends in unexpected places, and one of those avenues has been blogging! The past year I have met some truly wonderful people through writing, and each is inspirational in their own way. I wouldn’t be here today without them (and you)!

::my health::

I am thankful for my health, as my grandma always told me to be. The past year I’ve witnessed some tragic events in friends and family’s health, and it makes you truly appreciate the little things which are easy to take for granted.

::daily reflection::

I’m a true believer in daily positive reflection. I like to take a moment each and every day to reflect on what I’m thankful for, to recognize life’s little blessings, because if I don’t stop to notice them they slip by all too fast. I have strong faith that I’m just one piece of the puzzle, and that thought keeps my perspective in check. For me it’s not about life always being perfect – it’s about having the faith you need when it’s not.

Thank you Laura, for letting me be here to day to share a couple things I am thankful for. Sometimes we get so caught up in our days and look forward to things to come. This is a great time to stop for a moment and reflect on all that I am grateful for.

I am so thankful for: The ability to do what I am so passionate about everyday! Design! Whether I'm working on a a project, blog design, a blog post or simply helping a friend decorate a space in their home, I am constantly surrounded by design. My life is enriched so much more by having the ability to do what I love the most.

Family and friends that go above and beyond to help make my life so enjoyable. I have friends that I can laugh with, vent to, complain to, share a coffee with, catch a movie with and even sit around the couch and just be myself with. Each friend fulfills all that I could ever need and I treasure each one so very, very much.

Being able to hand over my cares and problems to God, while being taken care of time, after time, after time. Without Him, I would have nothing to be thankful for.

Hello! I'm Leslie from Pink Tulips, and while my blog is rather small, I definitely love blogging. I've enjoyed reading all of the other bloggers' posts, and I feel very honored to participate in this series. I'm certainly very blessed and have lots to be thankful for. Most importantly, I'm thankful for family and friends. I can't imagine life without my husband, parents, sister or brother. Every moment that we can see each other is a blessing, even if I sometimes forget that.

I'm also thankful that the husband and I both have jobs. Even though his hours are long, he seems to enjoy the work. I'm also really thankful that I found employment when we moved. While a part of me misses being a teacher, I'm very glad that I was able to find a new job working with people I like. I also can't imagine how crazy I would go not working.

And finally, I'm thankful for the ability to communicate. Books have always meant so much to me, and I'm thankful that my commute on the Metro allows me an hour of reading everyday. I can't imagine the commute without the ability to read! Also, with the move over the summer and a change in jobs, blogging has really provided an outlet for me. Even though my blog is very small, I'm thankful for every comment and follower!

I am Thankful For

Well hello! I'm Tiffany of Savor Home. I just found Laura's blog last week and fell in love with it and the "I Am Thankful For" series. The next thing I know, she sent me an e-mail asking me to participate and I was thrilled! It was perfect timing because I recently had a birthday and made a list of everything I was thankful for. Here are a few things that were on my list...

I am thankful for my entire family, but it's really my mom who holds everyone and everything together. She has been married to my dad for 35 years, has a solution for every big or little thing, listens to every word and tells me she loves me everyday. She also makes finger lickin' meals. I can't wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Most people keep gum or a mints in their purse or desk drawer. For me, it's chocolate. I have a piece each day. I lied. I actually have a few pieces each day. It just makes me happy! My wedding cake might even be all chocolate. I hope my future hubby is cool with that...

Let me explain. Shortly after I started my blog, I got so discouraged. I felt like I was talking to myself and that no one was reading. But I was persistent and kept going. Because of that, I have learned so many new things about myself and have "met" so many wonderful people. I have also learned that I love photography and food styling. I took that photo of my darling cat Maxwell (who I am also thankful for). So thanks to persistence, I know myself a little better. And thanks to persistence, I am here with you today.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year. I love the seasonality of this holiday. The autumn leaves, the pumpkins and cranberries, and the crisp fall air. The focus is not on gift giving, but rather around spending time with family and friends, and eating lots of yummy food. I love sitting down to think about what I'm thankful for because although I'm thankful for so many things year round, it's not often I really get to jot it down or tell someone else how lucky I am in so many ways. I thought about getting creative with my list, but instead went with what I'm really the most thankful for every.single.day. I'm thankful....

1. That in 6 months I get to marry my very best friend. I won't get all mushy here, but I am one lucky gal. I'm not a believer in soul mates, but a believer in working at the things you care about and the things that matter most. For me, this is my relationship. I'm usually the serious one, the over analyzer & the planner, but I've found someone who makes me laugh a lot, relax more, and encourages me to reach for the stars.Plus, we get to plan a really big party... but that's just a bonus!

2. For all of the amazing opportunities and friends that blogging has brought into my life. My day job isn't the most creative. I starting blogging this summer as a creative outlet. Food and art are my biggest passions and blogging has given me the opportunity to really hone in on them. I've also had the pleasure of getting to know some of the most inspiring, creative and straight up fabulous people. It's really a great thing.

3. To have the most amazing and supportive family. Nothing I've done, or continue to do, would be possible without my family. They support me in every way possible. No matter how old I get, or how many cities I live in, wherever these people are, will be home.

I am Thankful For

Hi! I'm Terri from La Dolfina and am delighted to participate in Laura's series of guest posts this month entitled, "I am Thankful For..." Thankfulness is one of my favorite subjects! There is so much to be thankful for, especially during this magical time of year. First and foremost I'm thankful for my faith in God. I can't imagine going through life without him. Knowing him gives life meaning and makes the journey worthwhile.

Secondly, I'm thankful for being thankful! I truly believe that "An Attitude of Gratitude" is the key to happiness. This fourth generation photo was taken in the last year of my Grandmother's life. She passed away in 1999 at the ripe old age of 98! She practiced what she preached.

And thirdly, I'm incredibly thankful for my health. My wise and wonderful Grandmother always told me that "Health is Wealth." I will never forget those wise words and try to never take it for granted. Good health is a gift, not always a given.

I am Thankful For

I am so honored that Laura asked me to participate in her I'm Thankful For series. Sometimes with the rush of daily life, it's easy to forget the anchors that we rely on (and really they are the things that get us out of bed every morning and make us want to rush home after a hectic day of work).

Today (and everyday) I am thankful for the loves of my life: my husband and my daughter. Sitting around the table each night, drinking a glass of wine and discussing worldly events is the breather that I need after trying to balance entertaining a dog, a nine month old and trying to navigate my workload at my job. Mila can't talk yet, but I can't wait to hear her contributions to the conversation - I'm assuming that when she's 18 she won't be solely blowing raspberries...but then that kid is full of surprises...so who knows.

I am so grateful for my marriage. It's loving, it's reassuring, it's cozy and it's hard. Often times I think people try to sugar coat their relationships (it's all wonderful/a blessing/the equivalent to a dozen roses). It is true...I found my perfect match in a man who sneezes ten times each morning, asks me to pull his finger and then promptly farts and snuggles me into what feels like five billion hugs. But having a baby and trying to maintain a perfect marriage is a gigantic challenge. Everyday we work at it and everyday I feel like we both get a little stronger. There are steps forward and steps back...but it's all a journey and there's no one else I'd rather take it with.

I'm not sure where I would be without my girlfriends. Being a momma is hard work and slipping out for a glass of wine and girl talk is a luxury in life that I cannot and will not give up. I feel lucky to have so many women in my life who are amazing, inspirational and empowering. I know dancers, artists, teachers, lawyers, writers, moms and so many others who I love to sit down with at the end of a long day. We smile across the table, raise our glasses and toast to a job well-done...and perhaps to the allure of someday being able to sleep in.

Hi BB&Beautifuls, this is Cristina from Fuji Files! When Laura contacted me with her "I am Thankful For" proposal my mind was racing - I have far too many things to be thankful for to fit into this little post. But I certainly had a lot of fun trying!

1. I am Thankful For : Home!

I recently moved back to Texas after three years abroad, and although this move has meant leaving a wonderful job, friends, an expat lifestyle, and my happy little apartment - it is absolutely worth it to be back HOME with my family. That's the one thing you just can't replace! (Cue Michael Buble music now).

2. I am Thankful For: My Holiday survival kit

I'm thankful for this blazer, which I found at Zara but I believe looks MUCH more expensive. The gold sequined clutch is just screaming holidays! It's Zara as well, perhaps this should have been called I am Thankful for Zara... because I am. The sunglasses with cat ears made the list just because they're fun, and fashion shouldn't be taken too seriously!

3. I am Thankful For: Blogging

That's right. I'm thankful for you beautiful people. Thanks to blogs there is just so much inspiration to be found out there, more than I could ever read in a lifetime. It's an amazing opportunity to learn and connect and well, look at pretty pictures. I'm thankful for the friends who encouraged me to start my own blog which I've been writing for 2 years now. It surprises me daily that I still find so much to write about, and that people actually read it! I now face the exciting prospect of turning this hobby of mine into something of a career, and you've gotta be thankful for any chance to get paid doing what you would have otherwise done for free!

Hello, Bold, Bright & Beautiful readers! I am Lesley from SIX TWELVE PLACE. Like Laura, I think it is so important to be thankful for our many blessings in life, so thank you for allowing me to share a few of mine with you!

I am thankful for...Chicago. As a born and raised Texas girl turned recent Chicago resident, I am in awe of all that comes with city living. I love exploring the neighborhoods, indulging in the many different restaurants and truly experiencing seasons. Chicago summers are perfection, the fall was gorgeous and I cannot wait to experience my first white Christmas!

I am thankful for....the love, support and friendship of a really great guy. There is no better feeling than to love and be loved unconditionally and I know I am so blessed to have found that.

I am thankful for...my health. To be healthy is one of life's greatest blessings and I try to not take that for granted. Thank you for having me, Laura!

As I get older and have more and more experiences in life, I've learned the value of dear friends. I have the most amazing group of women who are supportive, kind and thoughtful. I am so blessed with their loyalty and friendship.

While it is easiest to stay in our comfort zones, sometimes opportunities come and thrust us in a direction we didn't intend to take. My Hubs has taken an amazing position that is relocating us to Houston next month. And I've recently been given an opportunity to do the most meaningful work with an organization I truly love and admire, Orphan's Heroes. We have both been blessed with open doors that seem to be leading us in a positive direction.

Hello everyone! I am Lauren from L.A. in the bay. Was so excited when Laura asked me to share what I am thankful for this season. There are so many things to be thankful for, but here are just a few...

Family.

I am so blessed to have the most wonderful mom who will do anything for me. She has gotten me through so much in my life, and I definitely wouldn't be who I am today without her. I also happen to have the coolest, most fabulous Aunt in the world, a cool brother, and the cutest animals!

My Junior High Girls.

It's been two years now since I have been serving as a Jr. High leader at my church. I have 7th grade girls and they are the cutest things in the whole wide world. And, they love me to pieces, which pretty much completes me! :)

And finally, but most importantly, Jesus.

This is the day I was baptized and started the most amazing journey with my Lord & Savior.

I am so incredibly grateful for His love, His blessings, and who He has made me to be.

Good Afternoon Ya'll! It's Sheila from A Punch of Color Design. First off, I'd love to thank Laura for allowing me to guest post on her blog today. I am so blessed to be a part of such a fun blogging world and for the people I have met through this experience. This Thanksgiving I have a lot to be thankful for, that is for sure.

First off, I am thankful for my new camera that has captured some wonderful memories this past year. It has been such a sweet treat to take personal time to take photos to ease my mind. Below is one of my pictures from one of my favorite places in our town: Crystal Cove in Newport Beach, CA

I very thankful for my handsome Fiance, Casey (as of August this year) & my love child/puppy, Hudson. These two complete me each and every day. I am looking forward to many more wonderful memories together! Casey & Hudson below in Lake Tahoe.

Finally I am grateful for having had the trip of a life time to Ireland with my immediate family. My Mom's side of the family had a large family reunion, where we celebrated with over 150 family members. It was such a amazing trip. My Mom turned 60 and my Fiance turned 30 on the same day. The Fiance also proposed in Ireland, so obviously it was a trip of a life time being with my family! So much to celebrate this year. Pictures below are in Wicklow, IRE & Dublin IRE.

Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful for all we have. I am thrilled to introduce Wendy, Melissa and Cassandra - the wonderful ladies behind Chic Coles, who are the next guest bloggers in my "I am Thankful For..." series ~ thank you ladies!

I am so thankful for my family and friends this Thanksgiving and gathering at our house to help cook the dishes! It is so nice to sit down as a family around our dining room table and share a beautiful meal. I am of course so blessed by my happy, healthy family.

Protein is one of the most essential parts of our meal. It is the main substance in body’s tissues & vital organs. It works as building block of muscles. It is essential for repairing & building body tissues. Protein is vital for strong immunity & hormonal system.

One of the myths about our protein is that non vegetarian products are the best source of protein & vegetarian diet doesn't have adequate protein. It's just not true. It's not essential to include animal foods to get enough protein.

Here are some protein options for vegetarians

Soya Products

Soya protein is one of the few plants proteins which contain all of the essential amino acids, making it a complete protein. Soya foods are rich in calcium, potassium, iron & dietary fiber. They are rich in vitamins B1, B2, B6, E and folic acid. It reduces LDL cholesterol and coronary artery disease risk. You can use it in a variety of ways as tofu, soya milk, soya burger, and soya yogurt or soya ice cream.

Beans

Beans are called as "poor man's meat". Beans are quite high in protein & carbohydrate. They are excellent source of both soluble and insoluble fiber. You can get a variety of beans to choose from, so you will never get bored.

Nuts

Nuts are the most delicious form of protein. They contain healthy mono- and polyunsaturated fats which help to lower blood cholesterol and prevent heart disease. They are great source of several vitamins such as B & D, minerals such as magnesium, potassium, iron, potassium, calcium, iron, zinc, fluoride & antioxidants.

Whole Grains

Whole grains are rich in protein & complex carbohydrates. They are also good source of Vitamin B, minerals & enzymes & lower the risk of many chronic diseases.

Dairy Products

Dairy products like milk, cheese, yogurt etc. are excellent source of Protein & Calcium. Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends 3 to 4 servings a day of dairy products to get several key nutrients like calcium, , potassium, magnesium and vitamin A, D & B12. If you take one cup of nonfat yogurt, you will get 17 % of your estimated daily protein intake.

Protein is a combination of amino acids. In animal food we find all the essential amino acids in one source whereas usually we don’t get all the essential amino acids from one plant protein source. So we have to combine two foods to make complete protein like bean soup & wheat bread, whole grain cracker & peanut or almond butter.

French girl, who spent her childhood in Namibia among wild animals and tribespeople Tippi Degré was born on 4th June 1990. Her parents Alain Degré and Sylvie Robert, worked as wildlife photographers. At the age of 10, moved to Madagascar and then to France. She learn how to survive in tuff conditions of Kalahari from the tribes and bushman. During her stay she made some of her good friends as elephant Abu, a leopard nicknamed J&B, crocodiles, lion cubs, giraffes, a Northern Greater Galago, a Banded Mongoose, an Ostrich, meerkats, a baby zebra, a cheetah, a Caracal, a snake, an African Grey Parrot, giant bullfrogs and chameleons.
